You poured yourself out. Late nights. Early mornings. Ideas that weren't yours to keep. Loyalty that cost you rest, family time, and pieces of yourself. You believed the work mattered—that you mattered to the company. Then the meeting came. The words were soft, the decision was final. You gave everything for their betterment… and they let you go.
That kind of pain is real. It can feel like betrayal, like your faithfulness was used and discarded. Scripture does not pretend this doesn't hurt. But it does refuse to let the story end there.
The company may have measured your worth by output, margins, or the next quarter. God never did. Every hour you gave in integrity, every idea offered in good faith, every unseen sacrifice—those were never primarily for a logo or a paycheck. They were offerings laid before the Lord. And the Lord does not waste what is given to Him.
Being let go does not erase the value of your labor. It does not cancel the character formed in the pressure. It does not mean your faithfulness was foolish. It simply means an earthly master has finished using what was never fully his to begin with. Your true Employer remains. Your true reward is still coming. Your true identity was never "employee of the year" or "team player who stayed late." It has always been "beloved child, servant of Christ."
This season may feel like loss. It may also be the clearing of ground for something better—something more aligned with the work God actually prepared for you (Ephesians 2:10). Trust Him with the next step the way you once trusted the company with your best effort. He is far more faithful.
Lord, You see the long hours, the quiet sacrifices, and the sting of being dismissed after giving so much. Receive what I offered as worship, not wasted effort. Heal the places that feel used and discarded. Remind me that my labor in You is never in vain. Provide what I need, open the doors You have prepared, and teach me to work for an audience of One. I commit this next chapter to You. Act on my behalf. In Jesus' name, Amen.
You gave it all for a company. Now give the pain, the questions, and the future to the One who never lets His own go.
